The Makran Journal of Educational Research (MJER) is committed to ensuring the long-term availability, accessibility, and preservation of all published content. This archiving policy outlines the measures taken by MJER to preserve its scholarly output in digital and physical formats for current and future readers.

MJER employs several strategies to maintain the integrity and accessibility of its digital content. All published articles are archived in the institutional repository of the journal's host institution to ensure a secure and stable backup. The journal utilizes the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), an internationally recognized archiving service, to safeguard its Open Journal Systems (OJS)-based publications. This ensures that the content is stored in geographically distributed, secure locations. The journal also participates in the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) program, enabling libraries worldwide to collect and preserve the journal’s content for redundancy and long-term access. Additionally, authors are encouraged to self-archive their preprints and postprints on personal websites, institutional repositories, or other open-access platforms, following the journal's self-archiving policy. Proper citation of the published version in MJER is required.

For printed issues (if applicable), MJER ensures that copies are deposited in the National Library of Pakistan, the central library of the host institution, and other major libraries as deemed necessary for broader accessibility.

Archived content will remain accessible to readers at no cost via the journal's official website. In case of technical failures or institutional disruptions, the preserved content can be retrieved from the partnered preservation networks (PKP PN or LOCKSS).

MJER archives its digital content in widely accepted formats such as PDF/A, XML, and EPUB to ensure compatibility with future technologies and to facilitate metadata harvesting.

The archiving policy will be reviewed periodically to incorporate advancements in digital preservation technologies and to align with emerging best practices in scholarly publishing.

This policy reflects MJER's dedication to maintaining the integrity, accessibility, and longevity of its scholarly contributions, supporting the research community for years to come.
